Glenn Hughes and Joe Lynn Turner in ”Made in Moscow” Project
 |
It seemed unbelievable right from the start - the mega rock-stars are coming to our studio to record the album with the Russian musicians. At that time the wall paint in the studio has just dried up and the ocean fish just got used to their new aquarium. |
At last, that Day has come and we've met with the guys in the studio. It seemed that a long coffee session was ahead with talks about what the guys are used to when working in the studio, but that wasn't the case. Here's how it was: ”Hi, I'm Glenn, hi, my name's Joe. Shall we start from the first track right away?” Next second they were by the microphone. Eight working days passed by in a second. It was a great experience to see how they, the World's rock-stars, work in the studio. So how it was? If the one was singing, the other one was in the control-room, taking care of every next step, throwing ideas, all into process. What about the one who was singing? Lack of words. Maybe just one will do - Professionalism.
The guys' technic of singing together in one mike was terrific. It's more or less common when it comes to the duo parts. But when the parts changed each other Glenn and Joe were winding around each other like two wise snakes - and all records of flexibility were broken forever! In the same time, what's mentioning, every note was just ”there” and on the beat!!!
The only problem we had during those vocal sessions was that when we recorded the several takes of the same part - it was absolutely impossible to choose the best one because every one of them was the best with a little change in the emotional coloring.
We haven't seen any traces of ”stardom illness” in Joe and Gleen - they are extremely cool and soulful guys. The most of their spare time they've spent in the guitar room where we keep our guitar collection. Every instrument - with it's own history - has made a great impact on the guys. It was very flattering for us.
So... everything went very well. Too bad that good things end fast. But we have great hope that we'll meet again with Glenn and Joe and we hope this time is just around the corner.
